AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT
A clogged air filter means restriction of air flow to the engine—negatively affecting its performance. For every gallon of gasoline burned an engine takes in about 9,000 gallons of air, which contains abrasive dust that may end up in the oil and cause damage.
A clean air filter removes abrasive dust from the air before it enters the engine. These contaminants cause excessive wear to moving parts. By allowing the correct mixture of air and fuel, a clean air filter will provide maximum gas mileage and better engine performance.
While owner's manual recommendations vary based on your driving conditions, Grease Monkey recommends the air filter be changed when it is no longer translucent or appears dirty.

- What is Nitrogen Tire Service?
- What are the benefits of Nitrogen Tire Service?
- Reliability & Safety - Tire failures can be significantly reduced which improves safety, and reduces downtime and costly service calls.
- Better Fuel Economy - A result of maintaining proper tire pressure, which lessens the rolling resistance. Nitrogen also contributes to cooler running tires.
- Reduction of Greenhouse Gases - Every gallon of gasoline a vehicle burns puts 20 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Nitrogen in tires contributes to improved fuel economy, which helps the environment.
- Better Tire Pressure Retention - Nitrogen migrates through a tire 3 to 4 times slower than oxygen. It may take 6 months to lose 2 pounds per square inch (psi) with nitrogen compared to less than a month with oxygen.
- Removal of oxidation - Oxygen is a highly reactive element at high temperatures and pressures. Replacing oxygen with nitrogen helps eliminate oxidation that damages inner liners and belt packages.
- Elimination of Rim Rust - Since nitrogen is completely dry condensation is eliminated which in turn eliminates rim rust.
- Improved Retractability - Less tire aging and tire cord rust can increase the number of retreadable casings and also increase the number of times a casing can be retreaded.
- How often should Nitrogen Tire Service be performed?
NITROGEN TIRE SERVICE
Grease Monkey removes the oxygen currently in the tires, and refills your tires with Nitrogen. Green or blue caps are placed on the valve stems as a reminder that the tires have been filled with Nitrogen.
Once you have the Nitrogen Tire Service at Grease Monkey you can bring it back for free 'top offs' in between services(up to 3 psi per tire). If more than 3 psi per tire is needed Grease Monkey will recommend the Nitrogen Tire Service.
- When do wiper blades need to be replaced?
- Why are properly functioning wiper blades important?
- Good wiper blades are a key safety element for the driver's ability to operate the vehicle in all types of weather conditions
- Clear visibility reduces eye strain and eliminates the annoyance of a streaked windshield
- When are winter wiper blades important?
WIPER BLADE REPLACEMENT
When your blades are leaving lines and streaks on the windshield it's time for replacement. Because of the deteriorating effects of sunlight, ozone and oxidation on rubber, most blades last from six to twelve months. In addition, as windshields age they become pitted due to road dirt and sand and this causes wiper blades to wear faster.
Grease Monkey technicians visually inspect your blades looking for uneven spots and tears. Because they cannot always tell by looking, you will be asked if your wipers are streaking. Should your wipers need replacement, you will be advised of the cost. They can be installed quickly and you'll be prepared the next time Mother Nature opens the sky!
If you live in snow country, you know how ice and snow can build up on your wiper blades. Winter blades are wrapped with a rubber cover that prevents the moving parts of the blade from freezing, which allows the entire blade to conform to the windshield. All moisture can then be wiped away, thereby improving visibility.
- What is a cabin air filter?
- What are the benefits of a Cabin Air Filter Replacement?
- Captures airborne particles as small as one micron
- An electrostatically charged layer will hold the small particles in the filter, not the air
- Maintains clean airflow throughout the vehicle's passenger compartment
- Protects air conditioner and heater cores from dirt, debris and possible corrosion
- How often should the cabin air filter be replaced?
CABIN AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT
The cabin air filter removes the dust, pollen, mold spores and other particles that can flow inside the passenger compartment of your vehicle, especially in certain driving conditions such as city driving, dusty roads and industrial areas. Both foreign and domestic vehicles are now installing this filter to keep the airflow clear and clean within the passenger compartment of your vehicle.
Some filters have an electrostatic charge within the filter which depletes with time. Over time, larger particles in the air will eventually clog the filter. Failure to replace this filter will cause reduced airflow into your vehicle's passenger compartment.
Most vehicle manufacturers recommend a regular Cabin Air Filter Replacement every 12 months or 15,000 miles.
Your Grease Monkey technician will check your owner's manual for the proper service interval for your specific vehicle.
- Why doesn't Grease Monkey top off brake fluid?
- There are two reasons why the fluid level in your brake fluid reservoir might go down:
- Brake pads are worn
- There is a leak in the brake system
WHY WE DON'T TOP OFF BRAKE FLUID
As part of Grease Monkey's Full Service Oil Change, Grease Monkey technicians check your vehicle's vital fluids. Brake fluid is formulated to keep brake lines conditioned and protect brake pans from contaminants. Under normal driving conditions your vehicle should not use up brake fluid.
This is why vehicle manufacturers warn against "topping off" brake fluid. By adding brake fluid when the levels are low, you could be masking a problem with the brake system.
If you have any questions, Grease Monkey recommends you contact your local brake specialist.
